Each year, Huey’s participates in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K Walk, benefiting American Cancer Society. Every year we have a team called the Huey’s Hotfooters to raise money and try to reach our goal of $2000. The team of 18 all met at Tiger Lane this year on October 22, 2017 even in the rain! We had another great year serving up drinks at the main bar at Zoo Rendezvous at the Memphis Zoo September 9th, 2017. Back in the beginning of May, we collected donations for the Millington Crisis Center during our two soft openings for our new Millington location. The MCC coordinates assistance through donations and community resources to families in need from crisis situations. To learn more about the Center you can got to their website. We participated in the annual Duncan Williams Dragon Boat Races this year! This was our 5th time to have a paddle team and we all had a blast (except for the sunburn part). The Dragon Boat Races were held all day Saturday May 13th at Mud Island to raise money for St. Jude and the weather could not be more beautiful. Dragon boats are similar to a canoe, except they are 46 feet long, shallower, and thinner. They take a team of 20 paddlers, plus a drummer, to row. The 11th Annual Taste of Millington was presented by the Rotary Club and Patriot Bank. It was held April 11, 2017 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the N82 Gym/Hangar. This was our first year participating in the event and it was so great meeting our future neighbors! March 29, 2017 marked the 3rd annual Mojo Awards Bash hosted by the Midtown Memphis Development Corporation. Huey’s was so proud to be a part of the Rock the Ribbon event again this year! We donated and volunteered our bartenders for this fundraising event for Susan G. Komen Memphis MidSouth at the Great Hall in Germantown on Saturday February 25th. Rock on!

For the 4th year, Mike and Bobbye Garrity, Terry Gant, and Prentiss Jones put together a feast to feed the homeless. With items such as fresh cooked turkey and homemade dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes, giblet gravy, and cranberry sauce, no one left hungry. They spent many hours in their kitchens getting all of these items ready to feed people that don’t always get a hot home cooked meal on a holiday. It is truly a labor of love.
