Huey’s will be participating in Youth Villages’ Soup Sunday again this year. It will be hosted at the Fed Ex Forum on February 19th from 11:00am until 2:00pm. Stop by our booth and sample some of our delicious Italian Wedding Soup.

Bet Against Breast Cancer Event

Huey’s was glad to provide bartenders for the Bet Against Breast Cancer event at the Memphis Zoo this past Saturday, which raised money for the Wings Cancer Foundation. All of the bartenders donated their tips back at the end of the night, totaling $621.00!

Dragon Boat Races

Huey’s was proud to participate in the Duncan-Williams Dragon Boat Races this past Saturday, September 24th. The event was held at Mud Island, and raised money for the Tennessee Clean Water Network. We placed 15th out of 32 teams.

Huey’s gets PGF certified

Huey’s Restaurant at 1927 Madison Ave. in Midtown Memphis has earned the Project Green Fork designation for implementing environmentally friendly management practices. Project Green Fork is a local organization that contributes to a sustainable Mid-South by helping restaurants reduce environmental impact. Requirements for the designation include eliminating polystyrene packaging, establishing a composting program, utilizing non-toxic cleaners, and taking steps to reduce pollution and energy and water consumption.

“We knew going green was the right thing to do for our customers, our children and the environment,” co-owner and vice-president of operations for Huey’s Ashley Boggs Williams said in a statement. “We also knew our employees in Midtown would really buy into the idea. Project Green Fork provided guidelines to help us reach our goal.”

Huey’s Midtown is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Huey’s receives 2011 Restaurant Neighbor Award

Huey’s is proud to announce that we are a recipient of a 2011 Restaurant Neighbor Award. The Restaurant Neighbor Award is presented to a restaurant or company for its outstanding community service programs or project.

Thomas Boggs in The Memphis Thirty Five

The driving force behind Huey’s, who in 1975 started work at the original midtown location, Thomas Boggs expanded the popular eatery into a chain of seven, and groomed his daughters to run the business. But Boggs — who gained rock-star fame in the 1960s as a drummer for Alex Chilton’s Box Tops — was also known for his generous spirit and megawatt smile, giving untold hours to local nonprofits, including the Memphis Zoological Society and Memphis in May, and to people in need. A pillar of the Memphis Restaurant Association and a partner in other dining establishments, the entrepreneur gave a hand up to struggling colleagues. We lost him too soon, at age 63 in 2008, but his restaurant legacy lives on.
