Brennan Wilbanks began working at just 19, and in many ways has grown up with our team at Midtown. He’s been with us 10 years, and we’re proud to introduce him and thank him for his amazing years of work!
What has been the best part of working at Huey’s?
Oh, man – definitely the friendships. Also seeing the evolution of not only myself, but everyone else that has worked there. Seeing how we’re grown. Ashley Hooppaw (Ranson) was awesome for me. She came on probably about a year within me being there. She was honestly like my mom, raised me there. So that was big. That’s everything.
What’s your favorite memory from Huey’s?
I would have to go with when one of my coworkers was carrying the tea to the back and he slipped and the entire bucket fell on him. We caught it on camera. I was there, so I heard it, saw it live. I love coworker it happened too, so that’s why it was funny to me. He wasn’t hurting! Also, just a lot of late nights hanging out at the bar. Getting off work and then just hanging out, chilling. Getting off, you still want to hang out.
What’s the best part about working in the restaurant industry?
It’s like your next high school. For a lot of people that don’t go to college, this kind of is their college. It’s a bonding experience. Also, in general you make good money, and you can work your own hours. You don’t have to work 9-5 Monday through Friday, you can vacation when you want to, and there are all sorts of other benefits. Getting the discounts on food and drinks is a plus because the food and drinks are incredible every time.
I love all the owners. They just run a great business. I’m proud and feel fortunate to work for them. I learn a lot. I was a kid when I got hired at 19 years old. There were definitely some times when I probably should have been fired, but they kept me around and I’m thankful for that.
