Dede Rawls is a devoted mother who loves her kids more than anything. In their spare time, she and her family love vacationing across the country in places like Las Vegas, Disney, the beach and Six Flags, to name a few.
Dede says she’s done it all during her Huey’s tenure, but she currently serves at the Collierville location helping run the kitchen window, one of the last stops before that delicious food hits your table.
Midtown was the first Huey’s location she worked at, which is where she met longtime Huey’s owner Thomas Boggs.
“Thomas was the nicest person who would give you the shirt off his back,” Dede said. “He’s done so much to help me and my family and his daughters have followed right in his footsteps. There’s a reason they’ve been able to expand and be successful: because they’re such great people and they learned from the best.”
In addition to the Boggs sisters, Dede said she couldn’t talk about her time at Huey’s without giving special shoutouts to her whole crew, her manager John Russel, as well as longtime kitchen manager and friend of the Boggs family Terry Grant. Dede said each of them have continued impressing her over the years and she’s so grateful for all they do.
Dede says her favorite aspect of working for Huey’s by far is the people. Whether it’s her coworkers or the customers, she says they all feel like part of her family.
Dede has experienced the helping hands of her coworkers and the Boggs family firsthand when it comes to her children. Three of her kids are patients in the sickle cell program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the support of the Huey’s family has helped her with schedule flexibility and being there for her family.
“Loyalty has made us all family even though we aren’t related by blood. If you’re down on your luck, you can bet the Huey’s family will set up to help you in your time of need.”
Congratulations on your 10 years of being in the Huey’s family, Dede! It’s been a true joy!
