Gene Wilson, known as Gene the Dancin’ Machine, has been with Huey’s for 25 years. He keeps the team laughing, dancing and always positive. We’re so grateful for Gene and his 25 years at Huey’s!

What has been your favorite part about working at Huey’s?

It’s got to be the family-type atmosphere. We feel like a family because everybody’s in harmony. Some might say a love harmony. My motto is, watch my back and I’ll watch yours.

What’s the best part of working in the restaurant industry?

Being busy. I’m always moving, that’s how I got my nickname, machine. No, I actually got it because I dance!

I’m an entertainer, I do a James Brown show. I love to dance. That’s how I really got my nickname Gene the Dancin’ Machine.

What’s your best memory from your time at Huey’s?

A favorite memory from Huey’s was watching the owner Thomas Boggs put on an apron and get down in the trenches with you. It’s something he didn’t have to do, but that’s the kind of guy he was. It was something to see – you had to see it.  It made me feel proud to work for him.

What is a fun fact about you?

They think I’m crazy. I keep everybody laughing all day long. It’s a fun life. Out here, they tell me it’s a completely different kitchen when I’m not there.
