It all started with one phone call. Huey’s Poplar decided that it was time to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and they wanted to challenge another store. Next thing you know, all 8 locations had taken the challenge, plus the home office as well. Here is a breakdown of how this week went:

1. On Tuesday, August 19th, Huey’s Poplar took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. They, in turn, challenged Huey’s Collierville.

2. On Wednesday, August 20th, Huey’s Collierville accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. They then challenged Huey’s Germantown.

3. On Thursday, August 21st, Huey’s Germantown accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. They challenged Huey’s Downtown.

4. On Friday,  August 22nd, Huey’s Downtown accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge with much flair. They challenged Huey’s Southwind.

5. On Saturday, August 23rd, Huey’s Southwind accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, babies and all. They challenged Huey’s Midtown.

6. On Sunday,  August 24th, Huey’s Midtown accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. They challenged Huey’s Corporate Office.

7. On Monday, August 25th, the Boggs family and Huey’s Corporate Office accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Shannon accepted it twice. They challenged Huey’s Southaven.

8. On Tuesday, August 26th, Huey’s Southaven accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. They challenged Huey’s Cordova.

9. On Wednesday, August 26th, Huey’s Cordova accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, with mermaids and Titanic t-shirts.

As the final store, Cordova challenged STEVE VOSS, Huey’s Area Director and former General Manager of Huey’s Cordova. Steve has yet to complete his challenge, but we will not let him slip through the cracks.

The most important part of this endeavor was raising awareness and money for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Because of the awesome, impromptu, enthusiastic participation from all Huey’s locations, our employees were able to raise over $1200.00 for The ALS Association!

This week of Ice Bucket Challenges started with the Huey’s staff and managers wanting to participate and give back. It was not mandatory for all stores to participate. They instead participated on their own accord and all raised a significant amount of money for the organization.

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is still happening, and you can donate to at alsa.org/donate.
