Jill Davis has been working at Huey’s Southaven for 20 years. She is a bartender extraordinaire, excellent cook and family-woman. We’re thrilled to introduce her and thank her for her amazing service!

What has been your favorite part about working at Huey’s?

The connection between me and the guests and employees. I saw a customer yesterday that I haven’t seen in probably 10 years. It’s pretty cool. Once they come, they always come back.

Also, Southaven is a really good community. It’s very charity-based, which lines in with Huey’s perfectly, because they do a good bit of help and work for charity.

I am going to get emotional, but I appreciate everything. It’s been a good run with them. I’m really honored, they’ve been good to me. And I just can’t see myself doing anything else. There are a lot of great companies to work for as far as food and beverage, but Huey’s is the best, there’s no doubt about it. Hands down. They really rock.

When Mr. Boggs passed away and his daughters took over, they did an excellent job. They should be very proud of themselves, and I’m sure that he is very proud. They have taken what he created and run with it, and it’s very impressive.

What’s the best part of working in the restaurant industry?

I like the community together. The camaraderie is very nice. I love to feed people. I’m a bartender, but I served for a long time. I am just a people person, so it works out hand-in-hand.

What’s your best memory from your time at Huey’s?

My favorite memory from Huey’s is Southaven’s opening night. It was pretty awesome. Everybody was really thrilled to have us there, and it was amazing. You could tell it was going to be something special and that it was going to last and stay for a while. Plus, it’s something different. There’s no other restaurant like Huey’s in that area.

The whole Boggs family (Huey’s owners) were there that night. I served Mr. Boggs and his family on opening night. I didn’t know that was the boss man until later, and they were like, “You do know that was Mr. Boggs!” It was better I didn’t know because I probably would have stumbled or tripped.

What is a fun fact about you?

I love to cook, I love my family. I have a new granddaughter. I dig being a Nanny now, it’s pretty cool. My grandmother was Nanny. I love old school rock, lots of vinyl. I don’t know about fun facts, but if you come to the house and have a bottle of wine and let me cook for you and, you’ll hear lots.

My favorite dishes to make are meat loaf, the spaghetti or some other country steak. We’re big eaters, big time. So it works out perfect being in the restaurant industry. I love to feed people.
