Matthew McGraw, Huey’s Downtown bartender, has been with us for 15 years! He’s a hard worker, team player and all around great person to have at Huey’s. Check out his interview below to get to know him a little better!

What has been your favorite part about working at Huey’s?

It’s always entertaining. There’s never a dull day. Every day is different. I’ve been doing this long enough where I’ve seen just about everything and nothing surprises me. So it’s always entertaining, especially Downtown. There’s always something going on.

What’s the best part of working in the restaurant industry?

I’ve always just worked in the restaurant industry. Going back to my first job as a kid, I was a dishwasher at a golf course. I’ve worked in restaurants my entire life, so I really haven’t thought of anything else.

What’s your best memory from your time at Huey’s?

It’s kind of funny, but when I was working, someone had a fight in the middle of the street and went straight through those glass windows on the other side of the street. He was running full force, full speed. He went right through those windows and came right back out to keep arguing. I’ve seen a lot of things, but it’s the first time I’ve seen that. Plus, it was Halloween! That’s something I’m never going to forget.

What is a fun fact about you?

I was originally born in the Syracuse area. My whole family is still in New York except for my son and my mother just moved here. And I came to Memphis on a golf scholarship – to the University of Memphis.
