Ashley Ranson, Huey’s Downtown General Manager, has been a part of our Huey’s team for ten years. She is passionate about giving back to the community, offering the best service to our guests and creating like-family environments for our team members. We’re pleased to introduce her to you, and to congratulate her on 10 amazing years of service!
What has been the best part about working at Huey’s?
Huey’s is like family to me. It has been family for a long time – I’ve worked here for 10 years! It’s just fun coming to work. The people you work with are great. It’s just more than a job.
I met my husband here; Lauren Boggs (*Huey’s CEO and Co-owner) married me. We eloped in San Francisco with the Huey’s general manager and upper management crew. We were not planning to get married on that trip, but Hollis asked if I wanted to elope, and I said, “If Lauren lets us out of this conference early and I can find a dress, I’ll marry you.” She let us out three hours early, I found a dress, shoes, and fake rings. We had gotten engaged right after Christmas, and we got married right at the beginning of January. We eloped by the bridge.
What do you love about the restaurant industry?
I love the excitement of it. It’s kind of like a dance, you know? It’s fun to interact with customers, see people having a great time, eating good food and enjoying their time here. Watching kids grow up at Huey’s. It’s just an exciting career. There’s never a dull moment, ever. Especially as a general manager.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I’m the oldest of nine kids, which is probably why I’m so bossy.
What’s your best memory from Huey’s?
A lot of my best memories come from the community events we’ve done. I have always really enjoyed those, and I’ve been involved in a lot of them over the years. For many years, we did the St. Jude Dragon Boat Races, and I’ve been involved in Zoo Rendezvous. Giving back to the community but having a lot of fun with your coworkers while doing it is pretty amazing. It’s really cool that Huey’s is so involved in the community.
I’m blessed to be part of a company that’s so awesome here in Memphis that gives back so much and treats us employees and customers so well. You can’t beat it.
