Lynn Hardaway, Huey’s Southaven Kitchen Shift Leader, has been with Huey’s for 20 years. She is incredibly respected and valued – we couldn’t make it without her! We’re thrilled to introduce Lynn and say thank you for an amazing 20 years.
What has been your favorite part about working at Huey’s?
The people I work with respect me. I’m the only woman working in the kitchen, and everyone is respectful and kind.
I’m about 5 minutes from home, and the management here is awesome. It’s flexible here, and I am able to balance my other position as the Fedex Shift leader while working here.
What’s the best part of working in the restaurant industry?
I’ve been in the restaurant business all my life. I guess I can say one of the things I can say is that working at Huey’s, you do have opportunities to grow. They hire within. And I could have been a manager. I wasn’t even here a good three years, and the CEO asked if I wanted to be a manager. I turned it down at the time, but the one thing I want the community to know about Huey’s is that they take care of their employees.
What’s your best memory from your time at Huey’s?
The most meaningful to thing to me – and don’t take this as a joke – is not having to work on weekends. And you cannot go to a restaurant anywhere on this strip and not have to work a Friday Saturday or Sunday. And I don’t work any of those days. If you didn’t have the kind of managers or owners you have, you couldn’t do it. Because they could stop it at any time and say hey, you guys need to work on weekends. It’s freed me up to be with my family and spend time with the people I love.
I can’t let this job go. The people are so good. Everybody is just awesome in this place.
